Reading Dance

Join CHOP SHOP: Bodies of Work for a free, fun, and interactive talk exploring the creative processes behind contemporary dance films! Offered in partnership with Bellevue Arts Museum, Bellevue College, and The City of Bellevue Parks and Community Services Department, the Experience Dance Program: Reading Dance accompanies the CHOP SHOP: Bodies of Work Contemporary Dance Festival, held online in January and February 2021.

Reading Dance is your chance to engage directly with festival artists as they discuss the craft of choreography. Join dancers and choreographers as they demystify and reveal the creative process behind making contemporary dance films. Discover the type of movement language contemporary dance uses, hear how choreographers and videographers collaborate, learn different ways that dances are formed, and ask questions of the artists themselves. Reading Dance is open to participants of all ages and abilities.
